I am new to Mews. I wanted to know how to activate the “alternative payment methods” plugin for the Mews Booking Engine Widget.

Thank you for your question.
But in addition to that, please note that Alternative Payment Methods will only work for the rate groups that are on Automatic settlement (on confirmation) and without any offset.
Please try to set up a rate group like this - the alternative payment option will be available to the rates within this rate group.

Did you setup your booking engine correct?
Enable iDEAL as an alternative payment method (mews.com)
If you offer fully flexible and non-refundable rates at the same time in the Mews Booking Engine, we recommend that you choose either Not required for fully or partially paid bookings or Not required for fully paid bookings for the Payment card input option when configuring your Mews Booking Engine.
