As one of our new Product Managers, it is my pleasure to invite you to our newest Beta: Kiosk Split Bills!

For hoteliers wanting to more guest autonomy and aiming to reduce front desk interactions, Mews' new split payment feature empowers business guests to seamlessly divide their bills between corporate and personal payment methods directly at the Kiosk.

  • What it is:

    • A flexible payment solution designed for Kiosk check-in and check-out that allows guests to split their bills across multiple payment methods.
  • What it can do for you:

    • Increased Kiosk Usage: Reduce staff interactions by enabling guests to handle complex payment scenarios independently
    • Add and Edit Business Details: Allow business travelers to add business details to their bills from the kiosk. 
    • Corporate Guest Convenience: Allow business travelers to easily separate corporate expenses (room, breakfast) from personal charges (spa, drinks)
    • Flexible Bill Management: Guests can create additional bills and move items between them as needed
    • Leisure Guest Support: Enable friends or families to split costs during their stay
    • Full Bill Visibility: Display all open bills for the reservation, including companion bills
    • Configurable Feature: Enable or disable split payments in your Kiosk configuration 
    • Item-Level Control: Guests can choose specific items and quantities to assign to each bill
    • Multi-Payment Processing: Process multiple payment methods in a single transaction flow
  • What's included in this initial scope?

    • Split payments during check-in and check-out (not pre-authorizations)
    • Create and manage multiple bills per reservation
    • Move items between bills with full quantity control
    • Support for both business and leisure splitting scenarios
    • View all reservation bills including companion accounts
    • Configurable on/off setting in Kiosk options
  • What's not included (yet)

    • Splitting pre-authorizations across multiple cards
    • Dividing individual line items into partial amounts
    • Legacy balance check payment processing

The feature is already available in our demo environment but to experience it in production:

  1. Reply to this thread with the property you'd like added to this beta. 
  2. I'll enable it as soon as I can 

Configuration: Navigate to Services > Stays > Kiosks, select your kiosk, and enable “Guest can split bills” under options.

That’s OK, we knew it was a beta … ;-)

Hi ​@jon.johannsson please revert Bilderberg Europa Hotel, Bilderberg Garden Hotel and Bilderberg Parkhotel Rotterdam as well - a similar error occurs. 

 

Please let us know when it can be enabled again, because we’re excited to test this new feature!

We have reverted all hotels for the time being until we can get the heart of this issue, bear with us. We’ll let you know when we turn it back on.

We’re happy to report we’ve resolved the issues we were facing with the beta. We will bring this beta back online on July 8th for everyone that signed up. We will also encourage everyone to update their kiosk app to the most recent version.

We are about to roll it out in the next few hours, I apologize if we missed the check outs today. It should be ready for tomorrow’s check outs.

The beta is not really intended for skipping payment, if you’d prefer to allow the option then perhaps the beta might not be best option currently for your hotels. Let me know I can change the beta for your hotels if you prefer.

we want the smoothest possible check-in process, requiring ONLY legally required guest data collection. 
only for check-out the complex payment abd billing options shall be used.

if that is currently not possible, please remove out property from this beta (Hotel Spiess & Spiess, Vienna, Austria) asap.

I hope this functionality will be flexible enough in the future to account for different approaches.

For us it’s key that online checkin anf kiosk checkins are made as easy and quick as possible (we don’t have made bad experiences with unpaid stays ) while allowing as much self-service for business guests at checkout as possible.

Hi Jon,

please also deactivate the beta for all Meiser Hotels. I had disabled the prompt in the kiosk settings, but the feature seems to have activated itself last night. During my tests in the afternoon, it was not active.

So please take care of this as soon as possible, as we’ve had to switch to Straiv for now — we simply can’t operate properly otherwise. We really need more flexibility in the settings here.

Hello everyone, 

We’ve got good news, we’ve made some fixes to our beta, and now the feature respects the "balance check" setting, this way if you don’t want guests to pay at check-in just ensure that the setting is not enabled, and instead guests will only have to pay at check-out. Enabling the “Guests can split bills” and “Automatically create company profiles” will allow guests to split their bills and add company details at the kiosk. If you are interested in having the feature re-enabled for your property (or enabled for the first time), please let me know. And of course, please feel free to share any feedback with us, we honestly appreciate your insight in making this feature the best fit for your guests and your business.
