The much-anticipated Smart Tips - an 🤖 AI summary of a guests' previous and future reservation notes, preferences and status - is now available directly in our guest profiles! 

This means hoteliers do not have to go out of their way to have a quick overview of what there is to know about each guest, blending seamlessly into their routines, and avoiding any missed opportunities to create those remarkable experiences.

 

 

How can I get started?

The AI Summaries are already live for all demo properties, so feel free to take it out for a spin on your demo anytime, just by opening any guest's profile.

To experience it in production (which is really where the magic happens, cause… data):

  1. Reply to this thread with the property you’d like added to this beta, in production
  2. I’ll enable the AI Summaries within my next working day (I promise I will be quick 🏃🏻)
    1. Depending on how many volunteers we got, we may limit the beta during the first few days while we monitor performance and feedback

 

What about my data?

Guest data is not used to train any models. These summaries are generated on the fly, each time a page is opened, and the AI models we use do not own nor store our data. A side effect of these summaries being created every time is that if you reload the page, the summaries will be written in a slightly different way.

Another thing that could be benefitial – especially for verifing information – would be some kind of link relation to the sources of that AI information. For example when the AI writes “the next stay is XYZ and the guests mentions that he wants a bigger pillow” That you can click the underlined parts and you go to that reservation or note 🙌.

Perfect would be when you get a sneak peak of that on hovering but that may be too much 😅.

Just a little “food for thought” maybe thats technically to complicated or the ai is so good that there is no need to check that … but for me it makes workflow wise sense like that in different scenarios.


Heres some additional things i’ve spotted:

  • I think the AI doesn’t check message conversations but that may be something that could be considered as there may be agreements that were not added as notes.
  • There seems to be a problem with escaping quotes. I’ve spotted some backslashes around the AI texts.
  • I think thats a known issue but the AI seems to really struggle with gender. Thats gets a bit worse in german because its grammatically a bit more complex than english.
  • Also the AI writes “the guest hs an upcoming reservation on XY” where XY is today. I personally would like if the AI would write that more like “starting today”, “starting tomorrow”, “for XY days”.

Hah, you are reading my mind! We are hoping we can add sources in a future iteration, similar to how Microsoft's Copilot does. It does consist on quite a bit of work compared to what we got now, but I hope we will be able to get that improved in the future. 💡

Indeed for now we are not pulling messages - I'll add that to my notes as future considerations 😉

We made some code changes for genders and dates - we hope to improve accuracy but it's true that with translations (specially german) the AI model can get a bit creative. In english we are trying to make the model say "the guest" always, but in other languages that translation needs the gender context. 😥

@ettore.zotarelli i can’t find that anymore. The AI changes the text each time a bit, that may be the cause. When i find such a case ill make a screenshot and mail that to you 😉.

Exciting updates! We have made a few improvements over the last few days:

  • Better understanding of future/past dates to avoid hallucinations
  • Better translations and the preferred use of gender-neutral terms to address the guest
  • No "translation" or explanation of the hotel's acronyms used in original notes (each hotel has their own codes, like POA = pay on arrival) - the AI is now instructed to respect them.
  • The AI shall understand reservation statuses, and no longer say, for example, that a cancelled reservation is coming in the future.

 

With those improvements in, we are getting much closer to making this feature a permanent part of Mews!

We have just released a change in the underlying logic of how the AI summaries are generated that we hope will make the summaries better / more relevant / with the model being less prone to hallucinations.

I have done some extensive testing and it looked good on my end. 🍀 But I only got 2 eyes 😅

 

Hopefully the impact of the changes made is not noticeable; or, if noticed, positive. But please let me know if you see anything incorrect / strange. Thank you!

It seems to have a problem with merged customer profiles, have you seen this before?

When the merge is completed, where the ai notes appears before is just the spinner and a modal message with Unexpected Error. I have tried refreshing etc.
