At first glance, e-invoicing might sound like something for the finance team or your accountant. But as any hotelier operating in Europe knows, invoicing today means more than just sending a bill. Governments are setting digital mandates. Rules are multiplying. And if you don’t comply, your invoices might simply get rejected.
That’s why we’ve spent the last 18 months redesigning how compliance works inside Mews.
This post walks you through our approach, what’s coming in 2026, and how Mews keeps you a step ahead, so you don’t need to chase tools or scramble before a deadline.
Why e-invoicing matters now
In 2026, e-invoicing will become mandatory in multiple European countries. That means your hotel must:
-
Send invoices in specific structured formats (like Peppol).
-
In some cases, submit VAT data in real time to government platforms.
-
Store and transmit invoice information digitally and traceably.
If you don’t follow the right process, your B2B invoice might not be paid by your customer, or worse, you might not be legally compliant.
Why Mews Compliance changes the game
Hotels usually manage compliance with a patchwork of third-party tools: billing in one system, tax reporting in another, and manual fixes in between.
Mews removes all of that.
Everything you need is inside the platform you already use. From invoice generation to country-specific formatting and delivery, Mews automates and embeds compliance into your workflows.
Mews is making e-invoicing feel like what it should be: Simple. Native. Reliable. And designed for hospitality, not accounting software.
One suite. One fee. Compliance handled.
We’re introducing Compliance Suite, a new add-on designed to support your e-invoicing and tax obligations directly inside Mews.
✔️ Peppol-ready e-invoicing for supported countries
✔️ Automated invoice formatting and transmission
✔️ Audit-friendly tax exports and identifiers
✔️ Help center guides to support your setup
✔️ Automatic future updates as local rules evolve
💶 Flat fee: €25/property/month, no matter how many invoices you send.
This covers not just Mews' features, but also part of the third-party costs we incur to maintain compliant integrations (Peppol access, legal updates, certified data exchange).
As e-invoicing becomes gradually mandatory country by country, we will propose this Compliance Suite country by country in 2026 and 2027.
What's coming and when
Our roadmap is built around real legal deadlines, but also product scope and customer demand. Here's what to expect, quarter by quarter:
🗓️ H1 2026
Belgium – Already active, and requesting improvement which will be developed and will beneficiate to every property
Belgian hotels are the first to benefit from Compliance Suite. Based on their feedback, we’re adding a powerful improvement: Attach the Mews-generated PDF invoice to the Peppol XML.
Why? Because it includes guest names, notes, and other details customers care about.
We’re also working on how to automatically send closed bills + invoice PDFs through the Peppol network. This will mean zero manual steps. The invoice will be created, sent, and archived, all within Mews.
Denmark – March 31, 2026
Denmark introduces new rules for digital bookkeeping and invoicing. While Mews isn’t full accounting software (we don’t receive invoices), we do issue invoices, and that’s where Peppol matters.
Mews will support Peppol invoice sending by March, directly from your PMS. No third-party setup needed.
🗓️ H2 2026
France – September 2026
France mandates digital B2B invoicing and VAT data submission. Mews is integrating with the required French government platforms to automate this for around 1,300 properties already using Mews in France. Expect structured invoice generation and seamless reporting.
Germany – Mandate starts 2027, but we’re preparing
Since February 2025, B2B e-invoice reception is already live. Issuance becomes mandatory from January 2027 (for hotels with over €800k revenue / year).
We’re preparing features in advance, with release and communication planned in H2 2026, so hotels can test and adapt before the deadline hits.
Poland – Temporarily on hold
Poland – KSeF is planned for 2026. Our H1 focus is Denmark, France and Italy; KSeF integration will come later in 2026, and we’ll continue supporting Polish customers via existing workflows in the meantime
Other European countries will be added based on a mix of legal timelines, installed base and product priorities. Not all countries will be covered.
🛎️ You’ll see a country-specific popin in Mews when your country becomes ready. It will tell you:

What actions are needed

Why Compliance Suite is more than e-invoicing
E-invoicing with Peppol is just one part of Compliance Suite. Over time, the module will also include:
-
Country-specific tax exports (e.g. DSFinV-K in Germany)
-
Self-service Tax Management
-
API tools to update tax rates on future bookings
-
Certified record keeping (fiscalization and reporting)
Each feature is rolled out only where relevant, based on Mews product scope, legal deadlines, and active customer needs.
⚠️ Note: Not all countries are covered. For example, Croatia has a 2026 e-invoice mandate, but Mews is not planning to invest in full coverage there at this stage.
What happens next
-
If you operate in Denmark, France, or Belgium, start preparing now.
→ Double-check your legal entity data and identifiers.
-
Watch for country-specific notifications in Mews with clear steps.
-
Reach out to your CSM if you’re unsure about your country’s timeline.
With Mews, you’re not buying compliance. You’re unlocking a future without invoicing headaches.
Compliance is not optional. Complexity with multi-third parties is.
With Mews, e-invoicing just works inside the same platform that runs your property.
