What is Multicurrency?
Paying in an unfamiliar currency can leave guests wondering what they’ll actually be charged. Multicurrency lets them pay in their home currency instead, with the Mews Terminal showing the exchange rate and fee before they confirm. Paying in the local currency is always an option, guests simply pick whichever they’re more comfortable with.
Every time a guest pays in their home currency, your property retains a share of the conversion fee, which adds to your bottom line.
Why this matters in the USA and Canada
International guests are a big part of hospitality in the USA and Canada, and many of them settle their stay, pay for upgrades and cover incidentals in person. Multicurrency lets them pay those charges in a currency they know, which makes the payment clearer for them and adds to what your property earns.
How it works at the terminal

Step 1. An eligible international guest presents their card at a Mews Terminal.

Step 2. They’re offered the option to pay in their home currency. The exchange rate and fee are shown before they confirm.

Step 3. The guest chooses the option they prefer. If they choose their home currency, your property retains a share of the conversion fee.

Step 4: The payment posts to Mews as usual, with no additional steps for your team.

Getting access to Multicurrency
Multicurrency is already available to eligible properties using Mews Terminals powered by Adyen.
If you already use Multicurrency for online payments, your existing setup carries over. If it’s new to your property, you’ll see the option and guidance in your Mews account once you’re eligible.
