HI @GATEGARDEN-Isabel i am not quite sure if anybody did the move already… we were asking for details towards our success manager but still theres a need to wait
we’re not yet Siteminder customers, but since I’m already considering switching the channel manager, I signed us up for the beta. In doing so, we now have Expedia and Booking connected, among others.
Hi Sonja, great to hear and thank you for sharing!
I’ll switch to German for a moment — were you previously connected via the Mews Marketplace Booking Connector or another Channel Manager?
For the beta version, no contract was required, but the test phase is still ongoing — in the other locations we are still connected via our old channel manager, which means that if we switch completely, I would need to sign a new contract for that.
We are still waiting for information on how this will affect existing customers.
Of our five hotels, 3.5 have already been onboarded and billed with MEWS, while the remaining 1.5 hotels are to follow three months later.
That puts me, as the project lead, in a pretty uncomfortable situation. What’s especially problematic is that one of our hotels has two accounts with SiteMinder, Booking.com, and Expedia each—and so far only half of them have been migrated.
We are therefore still hoping for an adjustment so that we can migrate all five hotels at once and avoid having different structures for months on end.
What have your experiences been so far? Do you already see concrete pros or cons?
Unfortunately I can also report that the support somehow stopped in the middle of the transition phase. Just stopped. We only migrated one location because it was still in a test phase and mainly to compare whether and how it behaves with OTAs without a direct connection, but I also couldn’t reach anyone from the entire team of contacts; the email traffic eventually became a conversation between me and myself with a few people CC’d whom I don’t know if they ever read my mails.
Ultimately I was able to get at least some contacts from the Mews support to connect me with the Siteminder support so I could keep moving forward.
That’s the experience after onboarding, but in fact I can’t yet identify any major pros or cons…
Yes i totally understand. Siteminder support lacks at some point. And we renegotiated our contracts. Signed it before the transition to MEWS and now everything is messed up. Siteminder does not care anymore and states that MEWS needs to take care in refunds and so on.
I didn’t end up switching it on for now without seeing a clear benefit - the standard direct Booking.com connection via the Marketplace still works well for us and we don’t need any other channels at this stage. Considering AirBnB next year but that would then work via HotelTonight.
A shame to hear that you are now both having struggles, very much hope that gets cleared up soon…
