And as you may have seen, the feature will become permanent next week as we wrap up some finishing touches to make it even more user friendly, like improving the description of loops and conditional displays of rows (super advanced feature - not recommended for most users).

 

@Revenue Anne Copenhagen Absalon was already there, but the others not yet.
 

@Mathias Rajczak Did it update now? Sometimes the time is up, but because of a queue to execute this and keep the system stable, it may take a few more minutes until the next available “update slot” comes up. It’s fully automatic, rare and should hardly be noticeable.

Hi Ettore!

I’ve been using Beefree for templates, so the look and feel of the new editor is quite familiar.

However, I’m experiencing a few issues:

Preview:
It’s confusing to view previews without any of our actual hotel images. At the moment, I have to check our mail “queue” to see how it really looks. Ideally, the preview should reflect all of our settings, including our own images and content.

Adding Images:
When I try to add a new image, I drag the “Image” content block into the template. It appears correctly and shows a “Browse” button, but when I click it to upload an image, nothing happens.

Online Check-Out Default:
The default setting for online check-out includes “Reservation end time,” but when this is sent to the guest, the system doesn’t seem to populate the check-out time—it's just blank.

Template Migration:
For those of us who previously used Beefree, is it possible to import our existing templates into MEWS? It would be great not to have to rebuild everything from scratch.

Multi-Property Content:
We use a lot of the same content across our chain. Is there a way to push a standard template across multiple properties?

Costum fonts:
Is there any way of uploading costum fonts? We use Jost* as our brand front.

Thanks for all the feedback ​@Vegard Kaspersen ! I'm making notes of all that and indeed Bee is the engine running this new interface.

  1. Preview: unfortunately there are some technical limitations that previews don't pull "live" hotel data, meaning the pictures. We are considering an "email to myself" feature to run tests like that, but it's not super straightforward. 
  1. Images: we do not support drag and dropping, nor uploading images at this stage. All images must be stored by the hotel (on their website for example, or a public storage service) and added via hyperlink to the editor. 
  2. Check out hour: this is a bug and is being fixed as we speak.
  3. Template migration: Unfortunately this is unlikely to happen. There does not seem to be enough demand for this scenario to merit such custom development (compared to everything else we could do). But I am making a note of it in case this keeps coming up.
  4. Multi property: we are studying this, and indeed it's a very likely future development. Specially regarding custom rows that you could save for your chain...
  5. Custom fonts: I'm making note of this improvement request. 💡

Just one thing which we are wondering if there is a possibility for it: 
Currently, when customizing templates (e.g., adding social media icons or other recurring content), we need to manually update each template individually. This is time-consuming and increases the risk of inconsistency across communications.

It would be incredibly helpful to have one of the following:

  1. global footer section that applies automatically to all email templates.

  2. The ability to save and reuse custom blocks (e.g., social media icons, contact details, branding elements) across different templates.

Is there any documentation available for the conditions and loops functionality? Like which variables we can use? Our dev team would love to start playing around with these!

Like we found this condition:  {% if reservation.extras != empty %}
Which other variables besides reservation.extras can we use? 

I also noticed there’s an {{ enterprise.signInImageUrl }}. Are there any others we can use that are not in the merge tags list?

I saw you asked about scenario’s in which we would copy a template to another service.

Please have a look at our service setup for the property “Oftang | Zillertaler Unterkünfte”. In this production environment we manage a collection of smaller apartmenthouses, and each house has it’s own bookable service. The emails we sent for each service can be mostly the same, so we’d love to be able to copy them across services.

(Actually, the only thing we change manually now is the name of the bookable service (which is the name of the house), as there is no placeholder or merge tag for this. Perhaps this could be added..? 😇)


Also, like ​@Vegard Kaspersen suggested, being able to save content blocks (or entire templates) for use across the chain would be a dream! Most chains, including us, will use mostly the same templates, and it would be silly to have to create the same template again for each property.

@andreas we will soon release some documentation around it. But we also updated the UI to be more descriptive around the loops and display conditions available once you are into a specific Row property

More merge tags, conditions and loops may come in the future, but for now the current list is (almost) final. I think we got 1 or 2 bugs that are being finished now, but nothing major. Cheers!

I wanted to share some feedback regarding what appears to be a bug with the META social URLs.

When I paste a META social URL (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, or WhatsApp) into the settings and then try to open it via the email preview, I receive an error message. However, if I copy the same URL and open it directly in the browser, the page loads correctly.

This issue seems to affect all META platforms, while other social links such as TikTok and LinkedIn are working as expected.

Could you please look into this? thanks a lot

I have just tested it with instagram, twitter, facebook and linkedin and all links work fine on Outlook (desktop and mobile, personal and professional accounts with different levels of security filtering of links), Apple Mail (desktop and mobile) and Gmail (mobile).

It may be a local issue; so I suggest trying in different wifi/networks as you may be under a firewall - but I am just speculating at this point. Also, if you would like to try it out, feel free to forward me the email that these links are not opening at ettore.zotarelli@mews.com.

Hi everyone! I huge thank you for all your help and feedback!

 

We have closed this beta as we now have the new emails out for every property!

 

If you have customized emails, please give it a little review as we have closed some of the reported bugs and made enhancements to the experience over the last few days (the last ones being updated last night) and therefore you may want to reset your templates and do them again (specially around those missing translations, if you had any).

💡 Remember that if you are using the default text strings that we provide out of the box, they already come translated in all our Mews languages!
